Garbage and Recycling 2015

The ice was scrunched along the opposite shore all morning, then started to move back to the middle at midday.

LAKE ANNE, APRIL 30, 2015 -- We heard the first geese shortly before dawn today, and the loons are back and in good voice. Fish are jumping and we're headed for a warm weekend which should finish off the ice.

The municipalities have published their spring newsletters, which contain the pickup dates for garbage and recycling. I gather them here for your convenience.

Gore

This information can be found at:
http://cantondegore.cyprex.com/database/Image_usager/2/Divers/Dechets/DECHETS_2015_VA.pdf

In summary--

  • Garbage is collected every Monday
  • Recycling is collected every second Thursday with the next pickup being May 7.
  • Both garbage and recycling should be at the roadside by 7 a.m. on their collection days; they should be easy to access. It is the landowner's responsibility to tidy up after untidy animals.

Mille-Isles

This information can be found at:
http://www.mille-isles.ca/database/Image_usager/2/Environnement/Mati%C3%A8re%20recyclables/Calendrier%20recyclage%202015.pdf

In summary--
  • Garbage and large items are collected every Monday during the summer, until the end of September.
  • Recycling is collected every second Monday with the next pickup being May 4.

Morin-Heights

Updated information is not yet available. Judging by the calendar for March and April (which you can find here:
http://www.morinheights.com/IMG/pdf/calendrier_partiel_des_collectes_2015-2.pdf ), garbage and recycling are collected on alternate Mondays, with large objects being picked up on the first Tuesday of each month.

This information will be updated when the municipality's summer schedule is published.

Wentworth

This information can be found at:
http://www.wentworth.ca/database/Image_usager/2/Environnement/Calendrier%202015.pdf

In summary--

Garbage is collected every Monday.
Recycling is collected every second Tuesday, with the next pickup being May 5.

*****

The municipalities all mail out newsletters to their residents and the spring issues should contain copies of the collection schedules in handy stick-me-to-the-fridge-with-a-magnet formats.

Welcome to the new Lake Anne blog

The lake, November 2014

LAKE ANNE, APRIL 29, 2015 -- That was then, but this is now and spring has arrived with a vengeance. After a brutally cold winter, the ice is well on its way out, the roads are mostly driveable, and frogs are making a racket in every bit of wetland. This seems an ideal time to start the new Lake Anne blog intended to keep Lake Anne community members in touch and up to date.

At the last Annual General Meeting (2014), many of those in attendance indicated they would be interested in receiving information about the municipalities, the acts of the board, events, and general goings on at and around our lake. After some thought and research, your Noble Editor (Kathleen Hugessen) determined that a blog would best serve our needs.. It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Lake Anne News Blog.

Anyone who wishes to submit announcements or photos or anything you'd like to share with the Lake Anne community may email material to me at lakeannenews@gmail.com

And, with that, our blog is launched.
